Tablet advice needed

Postby heiowge » Tue Mar 29, 2016 7:56 am

Looking to get my first tablet and need some advice. I was thinking of getting a google nexus 7, 32 GB. They're on offer atm for £130 ish.

But now I find it's not got an SD card slot...

I need: Min 16GB internal, (Micro) SD card slot, decent processor and RAM, excellent reviews, modern version of Android (not needed to be latest, but upgradable is a must).

That £130 price tag is a little flexible, but not much. I'm getting it with birthday money, but since it's not for another 11 days, I'm not sure how much I'm getting yet and I'll have to stump up any extra myself. I don't need, or even want, a massive screen. I have good eyesight. :D

AS far as prompt and regular upgrades are concerned, I don't really think you can beat Nexus devices. I've given up buying anything else. OTOH, I agree about the lack of a SD card slot being a problem, which is why I got a 64GB OTG drive to use with my Nexus 9, it's just extra data storage when I need it.

After much debating... I'm going with the nexus 7 after all. I was going to get a 16GB tablet and add a 16GB micro SD card. So why not ditch the SD and go for a 32 GB system to start with? Plus Argos online have just reduced it to £120. Now all I have to do is hope it's still on sale after my birthday next weekend... :D

I guess you already bought your device but I would still want to recommend the Sony Xperia Compact Tablet 3 if you want a smaller tablet. It has SD card slot and good performance. :) I'm very happy with mine.

At about £290, it's costing about £170 more than the nexus 7.

Got the Nexus 7. It's the 32GB 2013 edition for £120. My mother and brother both own the same one, but they paid £200 for them a year or so back. I'm pretty chuffed with it.

This might not be a popular suggestion, but have you considered looking for a Tablet on Ali Express?

I went on there looking for a shirt for the Euro's and managed to get one for £13. Considering they're £45/£50 from the shop and the seller has had great feedback, I thought it'd be worth a punt. But having looked on the site I'm surprised with all the stuff thats on there, and it's all fairly cheap.

So you might find a good no name tablet on there for half of what you're looking at spending.

I think you're a bit late... look at the last post. I bought a nexus 7 about 6 weeks ago. Very happy.
