Accessing ownCloud from home network externally

Postby mickburkesnr » Wed Jul 13, 2016 2:17 pm

I am planning on using a Raspberry Pi to run an installation of ownCloud for myself. It's just going to be used as a file server, something I can back up project files to and can access when I'm away from home.

My problem is my internet connection is through BT on their "Infinity" connection, but I don't get a static IP. I was hoping to use a domain name I have to point to the server, but it's going to be useless every time the IP address changes.

What options are available to me?

Use a dynamic DNS provider. I used this for a while for SSH access to a Raspberry Pi at home, on a connection that didn't have a static IP, and it worked pretty well:
