Mark, issue 7's Elvie was really good; genuinely made me laugh out loud! It's totally me.

Thanks, it's always good to hear that our work is being enjoyed. I'll pass your comments on to Vince (the artist) as well.

As you may have guessed, a lot of Elvie comes from first hand experience. I don't tend to distro hop so much now, but there was definitely a time when it was me, too ;)

Hey MarkC. I got your PM but couldn't respond because I am too new or inactive, or both. Just wanted to say that translating stuff sounds interesting indeed.

Thanks to everyone who came up to chat to us at Oggcamp over the weekend (and extra thanks for anyone that bought some merchandise). It was great to do an event where the words "SVG", "Inkscape", "Creative Commons" and "Free Software" didn't elicit confused stares ;)

(Gamali, thanks for posting here - I've sent you a PM with my email address so you can get in touch directly)

A little overdue because of some prolonged festival of commerce that's recently taken place, but Elvie #06 is now on our website, with the source files on GitHub as usual:

First, a small apology to readers of Linux Voice #14. As you have probably noticed, we try to theme our strips around an article from the magazine. This time we were told that there was an article about "hand-coded" SVG. To me that means some examples of XML code, so the strip was created accordingly. The article actually turned out to be all about the SVG-edit GUI tool, so our "hand-coded" joke didn't really fit so well. Whoops!

If you are particularly interested in SVG, though, it's perhaps worth noting that Elvie #014 is the first one we've drawn entirely in SVG, with no bitmaps. It seemed the right thing to do, given the theme. #015 will be back to SVG (Inkscape) for the frames and speech bubbles, with bitmaps (MyPaint) for the characters and props.

Finally, Elvie #009 is now online, with source files on github as usual: http://peppertop.com/elvie/comic/elvie-009/
