Linux Voice & Scribus

Postby Mheureka » Thu Mar 26, 2015 7:54 am

In response to the letter from A Geoffrey Mort (Linux Voice Issue 14) Andrew says:

"The fact that the Scribus feature is taking so long is down to the key problem with it that we’ve found so far."

"Unfortunately, so far it’s missing some features we need."

"Scribus isn’t working for us, so it’s our responsibility to provide useful, feedback."

I find myself wondering

- What is the key problem that you have found so far?
- What are the missing features?
- Why isn't Scribus working for you?

Hi Brian,

I think Andrew means: the key problem in a potential transition to Scribus is that the software is missing some features. We're going to sit down with our Art Ed next week to make a specific list of what we need, write it up for the magazine, and give Scribus our feedback. It's very likely that Scribus will win £1,000 from our profit scheme, so hopefully that can be used to fill in the gaps! Stay tuned...

What happened with this? Are you using Scribus now, or is it still a work in progress?

Concur. An update on Scribus would be valuable.
