TaskServer for FOSSPicks?

Postby muskdog » Tue Jul 12, 2016 6:13 pm

Hi,

I remember TaskWarrior being featured for FOSSPicks in one of the early issues of LV (and even The Old Mag I think?). Although it was useful, I stopped using it as the overhead of maintaining separate lists of tasks on personal and work machines became too much.

I decided to give it another go recently and was delighted to discover/find that it's still being actively developed and there is now a TaskWarrior sync server called TaskServer. You can use a hosted service or even run this as a daemon on your own server (in my case a Raspberry Pi) allowing me to keep tasks from multiple projects synced across multiple machines. There is no package available for Raspbian so I had to compile from source and while setting up the server can be a little bit tricky due to the use of certificates, the install instructions and other documentation were really good.

I thought that this might make a good update for FOSSPicks or even a mini tutorial for those wishing to set up their own server?
